Barbara Dutton Founders Award Barbara Dutton was a volunteer in Loudoun County for over 30 years and involved with as many as 20 non-profit organizations. She was instrumental in establishing many organizations and has served multiple roles as president, chairman, officer and volunteer. Barbara was responsible for hiring the first United Way director and co-founding the Red Cross in Loudoun. She also established the Senior Transportation Service, Loudoun Volunteer Services, Elizabeth Foster Fund for Animals, Designers Showhouse of Oatlands, the Loudoun Museum, the Open Space Advisory Committee, and Leadership Loudoun.
Upon her retirement, the Leadership Loudoun Board of Directors decided to honor Barbara and her contributions to Loudoun by establishing a community founder’s award – The Barbara Dutton Founders Award, of which she was the first recipient. The award is presented annually at the Leadership Loudoun Annual Meeting in September.
Best Cultural Opportunity in Loudoun County Award
A Community Impact Project by the Leadership Loudoun Class of 2005, which awards a cultural organization to be the Best Cultural Opportunity that Loudoun County has to offer. The award nominations and votes are conducted by each Leadership Loudoun Class. The award is presented at the Leadership Loudoun Annual Meeting in September. Past Recipients are: Oatlands - 2005, Dodona Manor - 2006, Sterling Playmakers - 2008, and Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum - 2009.
